Who Am I Really?

This is a life-defining question. As long as you cannot answer it, you will remain insecure and keep looking into the wrong mirrors.

- Your Identity Determines Your Life

“You first need a vision of how God sees you, because your opinion about yourself determines your behavior. Your identity is defined by what God says about you and what He has done for you.”

Stop looking into the wrong mirrors:

👉 The only true mirror is God’s Word. (Read James 1:22–23)

But beware: It is not enough to just hear God’s Word. If you don’t live it, you deceive yourself—like someone who looks in the mirror and immediately forgets what they look like.

The Mirror of Truth

What does God’s mirror say to you today?

I am a carrier of God’s culture.

And God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

As God’s image-bearer, you are called to carry His culture. Through your thoughts and decisions, you shape your own life—and the world around you. What dignity and responsibility God has entrusted to us!

Rising from the Ashes

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me… He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted… to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes.” (Isaiah 61:1–4)

Ask yourself:

·         Where do you feel like Cinderella—small, invisible, worthless?

·         And where can you begin to see yourself as God sees you: loved, adorned, and royal?

The fairytale of Snow White shows how destructive a “false mirror” can be. Whoever constantly seeks affirmation in the mirror of comparison will never be free. That narcissistic mirror makes you dependent, sick, and unhappy.

👉 So the question is: Which mirror do you look into for your affirmation?

God’s Mirror Speaks Truth

Only God’s Word reveals who you truly are:

♥ You are unique—comparison and imitation are meaningless.

♥ You reflect the beauty of your Creator (Genesis 1:26–28).

♥ You are a masterpiece, woven by God (Psalm 139:14–16).

♥ You have a unique story, calling, and purpose (Ephesians 2:10).

♥ He gives you garments of praise instead of a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3).

♥ Where your heart carries “holes,” God plants new flowers and fruit.

✍ Reflection:How could this exchange—from ashes to beauty—look in your life?

Freedom from Comparison

🦋 Only those who understand who they are and why they live will be free from comparison and the opinions of others.

🦋 Only then will you experience true beauty and inner freedom.

Ask yourself honestly:

·         Am I trapped in the mirror of comparison?

·         In the opinion of others?

·         In victim mindsets or poverty thinking?

✍ Write down what your own “narcissistic mirror” looks like.

____________

Rise Like a Phoenix

👉 Ask yourself:

·         In which areas of your life is only ash left?

·         How does God want to help you rise again? (Read Job 19:25)

·         How could your story help others find their way into freedom?
