“…AND GREAT WAS ITS FALL!”

TWO HOUSES. ONE STORM. TWO OUTCOMES.

📖 Personal reflections based on Matthew 7:24–27

Considering recent events in our country PARAGUAY (bank collapse, president resigning,...) and seeing the "storms" around the world, I have been reflecting on this powerful metaphor Jesus used in His teaching.

Jesus tells the story of two builders.

Both built a house. Both faced storms. But only ONE house remained standing.

Think about it: Our HOUSE represents our LIFE—our family, relationships, business, ministry, and every area of influence entrusted to us.

What made the difference?

Not the size of the house. Not its appearance. Not even the intensity of the storm.

It was the FOUNDATION!

🏖️ A SANDCASTLE MENTALITY builds life on things that can easily shift, crumble, or disappear:

• People's opinions and approval

• Money and material security

• Personal achievements and success

• Self-confidence without dependence on God

These things may give us a temporary sense of security, but what happens when the storms of life begin to shake them? Everything can crumble over night.

🪨 A HOUSE-ON-THE-ROCK MINDSET builds life on an unshakable foundation: JESUS CHRIST AND HIS WORD.

God's Word does not return empty (Isaiah 55:11). His truth remains trustworthy even when everything around us seems uncertain.

Notice something important:

Jesus never promised that the storms wouldn't come.

He taught that the house built on the ROCK would stand, even when the rain fell, the floods rose, and the winds beat against it.

But here is the KEY:

“Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation..." JESUS AND HIS WORD

A strong foundation is not simply about HEARING God's Word.

It is about PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE!

Knowing the truth is not the same as living it.

TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT:

1. What am I depending on for my identity, security, and worth?

2. What happens when the things I rely on are shaken?

3. Am I building my life on shifting sand or solid rock? ____________________________________________

Don't wait for the storm to discover the strength of your foundation.

Build wisely TODAY. Build intentionally. BUILD ON THE ROCK!

Because the foundation you choose today determines how you will stand when tomorrow's storms arrive.
